Forklift Licence FAQS

There are a number of questions which are asked students interested in obtaining a forklift licence. The more important questions are as follows;
1. What Are The Pre-Requirements To Obtain A Forklift Licence?
The first criteria is that you are at least 18 years of age. Although there are exceptional circumstances if you are under 18, it is very rare that the exception will be granted.
The second criteria is that you have a basic understanding of both written and spoken English. That means, having an understanding of basic instructions which your trainer will call out. Also, it will be important to have the necessary written skills to read an write the theory materials.
Lastly, when you pass your forklift licence test, you will be required to produce 100 points of ID. This is necessary to apply for your forklift licence.
2. How Long Are Your Courses?
There are a number of different courses which you may want to consider. The course you choose will vary depending on your experience with a forklift.
For those with little or no experience, it is best that you consider a 2 day forklift training and licence testing course. That way, you will have sufficient time to build up your confidence on a forklift and make sure that you operate it safely.
The one day forklift training course is available to those with a number of hours conducted in the supervision of a currently licenced forklift operator.
If you have a current licence but want to improve your technique, then a refresher course may be your best option.
3. What does it mean by LF and LO?
LF and LO are classes of forklift licences.
The LF Forklift Licence allows you to drive any Forklift except for an Order Picker/Stock Picker Forklift and is the most commonly obtained licence.
The LO Forklift Licence allow you to operate the Order Picker/Stock Picker type Forklift.
